Volunteer Appreciation Party

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to share about this! It would be amazing to get as many helpers there as possible because this community has done truly incredible things over the past several months.

So many people have stepped up during Metro Surge and beyond to help neighbors who were scared, overwhelmed, and trying to survive incredibly difficult situations. People donated food, hygiene items, diapers, money, time, transportation, housing support, legal support, translation help, emotional support, and so much more.

Because of this community, families stayed housed.

Kids had food.

People got to medical appointments.

Families felt less alone.

And so many vulnerable people were reminded that there are still good people willing to stand beside them.

La Viña Burnsville and Latino community leaders are hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Party on Saturday, June 6 from 3–6 PM to celebrate everyone who has helped carry this work.

If you volunteered, donated, delivered food, translated, advocated, organized, drove supplies around, contributed financially, or supported families in any way, this celebration is for you.

Mutual aid work can be exhausting and emotional sometimes, but seeing neighbors continue to show up for each other has genuinely restored so much hope in me and so many others. This community has accomplished incredible things together.

Thank you for caring about people.

Thank you for showing up.

Thank you for helping us keep families safe and supported.

You all made a real difference.
