Need Support?

We're here to help. Dakota County Mutual Aid provides direct, community-centered support to individuals and families throughout Dakota County who are facing financial hardship, an unexpected crisis, or an urgent need.

We know that sometimes a family needs help quickly, whether that means keeping the lights on, staying housed, getting food on the table, finding transportation, or getting through an unexpected crisis. Our goal is to step in where we can and help families find a path forward.

Through volunteers, community partnerships, and donations, we provide direct assistance and connect families with additional resources when needed. While we cannot guarantee financial assistance or services, we carefully review every request and do our best to determine how we may be able to help.

We may be able to assist with:

  • Emergency rent and housing assistance

  • Past-due utility bills and shutoff prevention

  • Food and groceries

  • Essential household items and emergency supplies

  • Transportation to work, appointments, or essential needs

  • Emergency financial assistance during a family crisis

  • Support for families impacted by detention, deportation, or other sudden family separation

  • Connections to trusted legal, immigration, and other community resources

  • Other urgent needs threatening a family's safety or stability

Every situation is different. If you are experiencing an urgent need that is not listed here, please still reach out.

We prioritize serving individuals and families who are disproportionately impacted by systemic inequities or barriers to accessing traditional resources. Every request is considered individually based on available funding, volunteer capacity, partnerships, and community resources.

If we aren’t able to provide direct assistance, we’ll do our best to connect you with other organizations or resources that may be able to help.
