Needs in the Community

----AN EXAMPLE OF THE NEEDS ARISING FROM JANUARY 29, 2026----------

I want to share another need that has come to my attention, especially because I have been getting so many messages asking if there is anything needed anywhere else. There truly is so much need right now.

There is a manufactured home community in our area that has been experiencing ICE activity daily. The day before yesterday, three people were taken from this community. Yesterday, three more people were taken. These were parents of young children, including a father of a two-year-old, mothers of new babies, people going to work, not criminals. These were people who were brave enough to try to leave their homes and were taken as they exited their houses. Today, the community has been harassed throughout the morning by a full caravan of ICE agents driving through their neighborhood.

Right now, the community is pooling their own limited resources to feed around 80 families who do not feel safe leaving their homes. When we told them about La Viña, they shared how much they love the church and that many of them worship there. They were also told that the list is currently very long and that food cannot be guaranteed right now.

Through tears, the people I spoke with explained that other manufactured home communities nearby have absolutely nothing and that we should go to them first. At the same time, they shared how deeply they themselves are struggling financially to support their own community. Their care for others, even in the middle of fear and uncertainty, was incredibly moving.

Because so many of you have reached out asking if you can still help or donate, I would love to be able to support this community first, and then use anything left over to support the other communities they mentioned. I already have contacts there as well.

If you are able and willing, you can Venmo me or you can DM me for an address to drop off food. Every single penny donated will go directly toward food for these communities.

For safety reasons, any drop-off address shared will be a volunteer’s address and not the community’s address. We are being very intentional about not sending unknown vehicles into their neighborhood while they are experiencing ongoing targeting. They need to be able to track who is coming and going without added panic or chaos.

If you would like to help by delivering food or shopping for items with me, please let me know. Smaller donations can be dropped off with a volunteer, and if you would like to shop and bring a full trunk of food, I can coordinate that as well. I cannot take everyone, but a few helpers would be amazing.

I never want anyone to feel like I am just continuing to ask for money. There are simply so many needs right now. If you are willing, I would be incredibly grateful, and I promise it will be put to good use.
