Incredible Community!

I am always absolutely amazed by how incredible this community is. Thank you so, so much to everyone who donated to help this family.

I’ve been texting back and forth with the mom, and this morning I let her know I’d be dropping items off today. She shared that she had been really worried because they didn’t have food, and she was so grateful we were coming. I asked if she had any specific cravings, and then ran to grab a few extra culturally relevant items for them as well.

When I tell you all showed up, I truly can’t even put it into words.

We were able to bring everything she asked for and so much more. Many of you donated clothes and shoes in exactly the sizes they needed. We had a brand new coffee maker and blender donated since hers weren’t working. There were toys and games, including Legos for her son and a brand new Latina American Girl doll with a car for her daughter.

As we opened the trunk and told her everything was for her, she gasped and immediately became emotional. She couldn’t believe it was real. Every single item that came out of the car meant something to her.

We had a bit of a language barrier and laughed about how we can only really communicate through text, but her gratitude was so clear. She was in shock at how much this community showed up for her family.

Thank you for making this happen. You didn’t just meet needs, you gave this family hope during a really stressful time. I hope this brought them a sense of relief, some joy with new toys, and comfort in having food and essential household items taken care of.

Most of all, I hope it reminded them that their neighbors truly care
