I have an update for you all on the mom that so many of you stepped up to help, who is currently caring for seven kids, three of whom are missing their parents who are now in Mexico after their father was deported.
So many of you showed up in the best way. We were able to deliver art supplies, games, toys, clothes, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and so many groceries.
She shared with me that it was one of her daughters’ birthdays last week and they weren’t really able to do much to celebrate. She said her daughter loves bubble bath and bath bombs and that’s what she had asked for, so of course we made sure to include those too.
Then as I’m literally loading up my van before delivery, I get an email from the YESOD fund that her family was selected for rental assistance. They’re able to cover her past due rent for March and April, which means she gets a clean slate going into her new job in May. The timing really couldn’t have been better.
I’m just so grateful for all of you. Every time I put out a call and my porch fills up with clothes and art supplies and food or whatever else the need is, I just feel really humbled by how willing people are to show up and care for others.
You really made a difference for this family.
I hope that little girl gets the birthday redo she deserves, and that all of the kids in the house feel some extra joy. The mom is so, so thankful
