What we did Monday and Tuesday this week was absolutely amazing. So many people came together to pick up, pack, and deliver food, and 75 families received exactly what they had asked for in groceries and essentials. We were able to partner with a food pantry and supplement items with all of your donations, so families received full size hygiene products, enough toilet paper and paper towels to go around, cleaning supplies, and culturally relevant food.

The next day, with a smaller team of volunteers, we were able to pick up and deliver 75 cartons of eggs, 75 gallons of milk, and 75 large packs of meat using donations that so many of you contributed.

Thank you. Truly. None of that happens without this community.

Now we have another opportunity to step in.

I was recently contacted by a Minneapolis mutual aid channel that received requests from Dakota County families in need but does not currently have the capacity to support them. They reached out to see if we might be able to help families in our area.

Right now, there are 8 families needing support, 7 in Burnsville and 1 in Rosemount. In the attached document, you will find brief descriptions of each family and the specific needs they shared.

If you are able to take on a family, either on your own or by teaming up with others, or if you would prefer to collect funds and shop for a family, please reach out to me. I have all of the contact information and delivery addresses and can help coordinate.

I also know that many people have such a heart to give but may not have the ability to fund an entire family’s grocery trip on their own. I would love to work with you to use donation funds to reimburse receipts up to a certain amount so that if you have the heart to help, you are able to, even if it is not fully in your budget.
